December[22] Yesterday the City of Detrioit not only named a street after Stevie but also awarded him the key to the city. Mayor Mike Duggan assisted in the unveiling of Stevie Wonder Avenue, with a street sign at the corner of Woodward Avenue. “This is just an amazing moment, I’m going to freeze this moment… and remember it forever.” Stevie said.

[17] Stevie Wonder Avenue coming to Detroit's street map. Stevie Wonder will be on hand Wednesday for a street renaming ceremony in the city where he built his groundbreaking career. The City of Detroit will unveil signage introducing Stevie Wonder Avenue renaming Milwaukee Avenue just a mile from the Hitsville, U.S.A., headquarters where he was signed as a child prodigy in the early '60s. Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will lead the renaming ceremony. Stevie acknowledged the honour saying, "I never imagined that in my lifetime this honor would be bestowed upon me. I didn't, but God did. I am so thankful and filled with gratitude that the city where I grew up would give me a forever moment—a moment that is captured on Milwaukee Ave. and in my heart. I am overjoyed."

[11] Stevie and friends played Santa Claus in L.A. at the 20th annual House Full of Toys Charity Concert on Friday. For two decades Stevie has hosted the event to collect thousands of gifts for children, people with disabilities and families in need. Guest performers included Lionel Richie, John Legend, Tori Kelly, Queen Latifah, Rachel Platten, Anderson .Paak, Nita Whitaker and Major.
[06] Stevie gave a rousing, personal speech about human rights violations at the United Nations on December 3rd, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. In his speech he said; "Imagine if others like me were given the opportunity to function at their full potential, how much better our world would be." He acknowledged that while the U.N. has improved the lives of people who are differently abled, many continue to face "horrendous human rights violations." He called on political world leaders and citizens to end "hatred and bigotry of any kind everywhere."
[06] Stevie attended the recent premiere of the movie Sing where he performed a medley of hits, Superstition, I Wish and Sir Duke.
Director Garth Jennings said: “There’s Stevie Wonder, standing right there, and he is a legend and seriously, when Stevie Wonder says, ‘I love your movie, I love your songs, can I do another…?’ Things like that are miracles. That doesn’t happen very often in a lifetime, never mind a career. I’m about as grateful as I can get.”

[26] Stevie performed at a birthday celebration-fundraiser for Hillary Clinton Monday night in New York City. And this morning he made a special appearance on Radio Power 105.1 during an interview with Mrs Clinton where he sang Happy Birthday. He said "I’m really excited to be here and I’m here to support someone that I’ve had such love and respected for years, so it’s very exciting and I think that, truth be told, as men we have had our chance to work it out. It’s time to let a woman do it."

[14] Last night was the official Prince tribute concert which took place in Minnesota. Stevie dressed in a suit and purple shirt, added his signature harmonica licks to Chaka Khan’s 1984 version of “I Feel for You,” and followed it with a version of Prince’s hit “1999,” delighting the 18,000 fans in attendance.
[14] The Minneapolis Cedar-Riverside neighborhood residents received a pleasant surprise on Thursday afternoon from Stevie. He was in Minnesota to perform at the Prince tribute concert. He spoke to a crowd of fans, activists and young students at Brian Coyle Center about Prince's legacy, the US politcal scene and black life matters.

[23] Barack Obama, today, opened the new African-American Smithsonian Museum. Stevie was among many artistes such as Chuck D., Doug E. Fresh, Janelle Monáe, Will Smith, Chris Tucker, Oprah Winfrey and Quincy Jones who were on hand to commemorate. The event will be recorded for broadcast later in the year on ABC Television.

[21] On Friday 19th, Stevie, Will.I.Am, Hilary Clinton, Caitlyn Jenner and Matt Bomer gathered in support of the Orlando nightclub shooting victims at an emotional fundraiser. The event, hosted by Lance Bass, paid tribute to those who were killed in the shooting in June, while showing solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community who were affected by the tragedy.
Stevie called for an end to gun violence before he performed. "People that just feel they have to have their guns, it’s a heartbreak because it tells me that too many believe that it is easier for them to hate. We have the right to love who we decide to love because love truly is the key... I believe that we all must come together in the spirit of love to put an end to all of this." He also debuted a new song written in response to the tragedy, entitled “Where is Our Love Song?”
[14] On Thursday 12th, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon traveled to Hollywood to ask movie and TV stars to join the ambitious campaign to end poverty, tackle the problem of climate change and to promote a fairer more humane world, reports the AP. The dinner was attended by many, including Stevie, Mariah Carey, Courtney Love, Sharon Stone and several studio chiefs. In his brief speech Stevie said that he is very honored to be a part of the celebration of unity.
[04] Tony Bennett turned 90 on Wednesday with a big birthday bash featuring guests, Stevie, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Harry Belafonte and Bruce Willis. Gaga serenaded the crowd with Bennett's hits and was joined by Stevie singing Happy Birthday, You Are The Sunshine of Our Lives and Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

[12] On Sunday Stevie headlined the Barclaycard British Summer Time music festival in front an audience of 65,000 at London's Hyde Park with his Songs in the Key of Live: The Performance. For almost four hours he ran thru the epic album ending with a short tribute to Prince and a medley of Part Time Lover, Signed Sealed Delivered and Superstition.

[27] There were a number of Prince tributes at the BET 2016 Awards last night. Stevie and Tori Kelly teamed up for "Take Me With U," and Jennifer Hudson brought the house down when she belted "Purple Rain." Janelle Monáe performed a medley of the legend's singles including “Delirious,” “Kiss,” “Pop Life,” and “I Would Die for You," while Erykah Badu and Bilal performed “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker” and “The Beautiful Ones.”
[23] Stevie has been included in the line up of artists set to pay tribute to Prince on the BET Awards Show on Sunday June 26 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET on BET.

[23] Stevie and Madonna paid tribute to Prince at Sunday night's Billboard Music Awards with the latter singing 'Nothing Compares 2 U' before Stevie joined her for a rendition of 'Purple Rain'.

The school cited Wonder as one of the most important musical artists of the late twentieth century who continues to be a pivotal influence in U.S. and world events, demonstrating the activism that has made him a vital voice for social progress and world harmony.

Instead, that evening he entertained 250 or so people crowded into the Jazz Playhouse. The following night, he joined trumpeter Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra at the House of Blues.

[28] Stevie and John Mayer led a star-studded jam session in honor of late music icon Prince on Tuesday night. Comedian Dave Chappelle hosted an impromptu event at the No Name Club in Los Angeles, where nearly 200 people came together to pay tribute to Prince. Stevie covered songs by Prince, Michael Jackson and The Beatles, in addition to some of his own songs.
[25] Stevie performed in Davis on Sunday at a fundraiser for a young ski instructor who went missing in a Lake Tahoe resort earlier this year. The body of 23-year-old Carson May was found more than a month after he went missing on Jan. 15. His father Mike May who is visually impaired has been friends with Stevie since the 1980's.

[14] Stevie is to perform his classic 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life in its entirety in front of 65,000 people in London this summer. He will perform on 10th July at the Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park. Tickets go on sale Friday 18th March.
[12] Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) has just released their 26th Annual Labor Day Experience line-up, including Stevie, The Killers, Duran Duran, Train, Thievery Corporation and Andy Grammar. Stevie will close the event on Sunday September 4th.
[11] Robert Glasper's Miles Davis tribute album, Everything's Beautiful, features 11 reinterpretations of songs by the legendary jazz musician. Stevie is featured on the track Right On Brotha. The album will be released on May 27th.

[29] Stevie, Janelle Monae, Ledisi, Robert Glasper, Estelle, Andra Day, Musiq Soulchild and Jussie Smollet were among those who performed at last night's (February 28) #JusticeForFlint rally. Stevie played Love's in need of today and Higher ground and said "I’m too close to be so far away and so I’m here in support. The reality is we all need water, that's a human right. If you come to my show and the music is off, the music director must be fired. A disaster on this order, requires accountability. If it goes down bad, someone's gotta go."
[26] Stevie performed at Global Green’s Pre-Oscars Gala on Feb 24th. Stevie said “I’ve been vegan for two years, it’s helped my already good-looking self. I think eating healthy is important. I also think we have to be about the perpetuation of this planet. We have to be about making our planet cleaner, more sustainable for the children. And we can’t just talk about it, we gotta be about it.”
After receiving the Global Green Hero Award from his sons Kailand and Mandla he said to them, “encourage the young people of your generation to value the planet everywhere they go.”
[16] Stevie together with acapella group Pentatonix paid tribute to Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire last night at the Grammy's with a short but moving rendition of That's the Way of the World.
Afterwards he announced the nominees for Song of the Year where he joked about the audience not being able to read braille. And then stated that "We need to make every single thing accessible to every person with a disability".

[13] Stevie will be returning to entertain fans at this year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The event is scheduled to be held at the Fair Grounds on the weekends of April 22-24 and April 28-May 1.

[30] Lionel Richie will be honoured as this year's MusiCares Person of the Year. Stevie along with Dave Grohl, Rihanna, Florence Welch, Lenny Kravitz, Lady Antebellum, John Legend, Demi Lovato, Usher, Pharrell Williams will perform at the Feb. 13 concert event to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
[18] Stevie, Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Neil Young, among others, will headline New Orleans Jazz Fest 2016. The 47th edition of the festival is scheduled for April 22 through May 1.
[12] Yesterday was the funeral of the great Natalie Cole who passed away on New Years Eve. A host of stars attended including Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, Johnny Mathis, Lionel Ritchie, Chaka Khan and David Foster.
Stevie played harmonica and sang "The Lord's Prayer," getting the crowd on its feet and cheering at the end.
He told mourners: I know this day very well. It was the date my mother was born. So it's a bittersweet day because of the pain of remembering my mother but also the joy of knowing Natalie will see my mother today. We must continue the spirit and kindness that this woman gave the world. She left this country where people are so divided. We speak of love but we don't do love. We've got a lot of work to do Natalie, and we will do it in the spirit of you.
